Stronger, Safer, More Confident: Claim Your Rights Workshop Reaches 547 Girls in Northeastern Thailand

In November 2025 and January 2026, Pratthanadee Foundation, with the generous support of the Black & Veatch Foundation, delivered the Claim Your Rights workshop to 547 girls across six secondary schools in Ubon Ratchathani and Amnat Charoen provinces. The workshop helped girls build practical knowledge about personal safety, rights, help-seeking, and self-protection in both offline and online situations.
📚 Closing Critical Safety Gaps
For many girls, this was their first opportunity to receive structured learning on violence prevention and safety. 89% had never attended a workshop on this topic before. Pre-workshop findings also showed that while many girls said they would seek help if they faced danger, most did not know specific hotline numbers or support services, highlighting an important gap between awareness and action.
After the workshop, average test scores increased from 43% to 96%, with 96% of participants improving their scores. These results reflect strong gains in practical knowledge and help-seeking readiness.

✨ Building Knowledge and Confidence
The workshop covered topics such as recognizing unsafe situations, understanding rights and protections, identifying trafficking and online scam risks, practicing basic self-defense, and learning where to go for support. Girls also explored how to set boundaries, speak up, and respond more safely in real-life situations.
Feedback after the workshop showed strong positive outcomes:
- 99% said the workshop helped them understand how to prevent or avoid danger
- 98% said it better prepared them to respond if danger or violence occurs
- 97% said they gained knowledge about their rights and where to seek help
- 91% said they felt more confident they could protect themselves
💬 What Girls Took Away
Many girls described the workshop as useful, engaging, and directly relevant to their lives. They shared that they learned how to protect themselves, recognize warning signs, and respond more effectively in unsafe situations.
I gained knowledge about self-defense in different dangerous situations,— Feedback from participantlearned important hotline numbers, and learned about vulnerable points on the body to respond appropriately and protect myself.
Each participant also received a Student Kit with a practical safety guide, learning materials, and useful items to support continued learning beyond the workshop.

📢 Looking Ahead
The Claim Your Rights workshop gave girls more than information. It helped strengthen their confidence, awareness, and ability to make safer decisions for themselves and their futures. Teacher feedback was also highly positive, with 100% agreeing that the workshop was engaging, relevant, and beneficial for students.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Black & Veatch Foundation for making this workshop possible. Together, we are helping girls in Northeastern Thailand grow up safer, stronger, and better prepared to protect their rights and futures.
