Ten Years, Ten Women: Jit

Before Better Me, Jit wasn't thinking much about the future in any structured way. Life moved forward day to day, without a clear sense of building toward anything in particular. A friend recommended the program to her, and she joined mostly because it sounded like a chance to try something genuinely new.

She started with no English at all, and it's the first thing she names when asked what's stayed with her. She still uses it today, in moments that call for it, more than a decade after starting from zero. But the language wasn't the only thing she took from the program. She also learned how to actually plan, for her finances and for her family's future, rather than managing things reactively as they came up.

She's still a housekeeper today, the same job she had before joining. What's different isn't her title, it's how she approaches the work and the life around it: with more financial confidence, a clearer sense of what she's working toward, and English she can rely on when she needs it.

Asked what Better Me means to her, she doesn't hesitate: it's given her real opportunities and real knowledge, the kind of good things she says the foundation has consistently offered her, well beyond what she expected when she first walked in.
